The Connection Between Depression And Headache

  • Loss of concentration, Thinking ability and focus.

In the future, when you consult your doctor for any physical problems like chronic pain and Cluster headaches, he will examine you for depression. Don’t be surprised of. 

The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) is one of the most common tools for depression screening. The Geriatric Depression Scale to be used for elder patients.

Some other diagnostic method for Depression:

To diagnose depression, Doctors will also screen for some other problems which can coexist with MDD. Few of them are,

  • Dysthymic disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bereavement
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Generalized anxiety disorder

Doctors may also screen you for some of the medical deficiencies that acts like depression symptoms like,

  • Fibromyalgia

Depression diagnosis process usually having the combination of Medication and talk therapy which should be followed over a six month period of time. The Doctors also prescribe some anti-depressants, like a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) and Cymbalta (duloxetine) which is so effective in treating pain conditions.

Except for medication and talk therapy, there are some regular activities we have to follow them in order to reduce depression, they are

  • Eating Nutritious food at regular time
  • Exercise daily
  • Sleep well daily(should be a deep sleep)
  • Stop Consuming alcohol if you are alcoholic
  • Be comfort with family and friends
